Boat Report (June 2007)

The Sussex Diver

The Suzuki DF 140HP 4-stroke continues to perform well. This 6.5m Humber RIB has just been completely re-tubed giving us virtually a new boat.

The Seahorse

Our brand new 6.5m Humber (but with a greater beam than Sussex Diver) has finished its proving trials in time for the Club visit for a week to Brixham. It has a speedy 175HP Suzuki Four-Stroke engine.
We will then have two high reliability RIBS each capable of taking 8 divers

Trailers

We have arranged to store the trailers at Ricardo's car park on a temporary basis.

Compressor

The club currently has a 37cu ft/min compressor which is housed in one of the arches on Brighton seafront. It has a double-filtration cartridge-based filtration unit which is suitable for Nitrox fills. We also have our own Nitrox facility, which allows for O2 to be decanted into the cylinders and topped up with air to provide the required mix.
Latest News - We have just put down a deposit on a new compressor and bank. We will put the new compressor in storage for a few weeks (does anyone have a garage?), clear our and paint the arch (volunteers please), fit the new compressor and train members on using it. The plan is to have it working in early March, we will be without a compressor for a few weeks late February. Exact dates will be given when we know them

Storage

All the boat equipment is stored in the Arch.

Shot Lines

To make it easier for marshalls/boat handlers to determine which shot line to use, all have been marked up with their length. Each shot line has a loop at one end and a ring at the other. The ring is attached to the buoy using the carabiner provided. The loop is passed through the handle/ring on the weight, then open the loop and pass the whole weight through it.

If you lose a shot line on one of the wrecks; recover the buoy, tie a small weight to the end of the shot and sink it. Arrangements should be made to re-dive the wreck and recover the shot at the earliest opportunity.
