Training
Open Water training for Ocean Divers is starting now. For other training details- boat handling, padi to BSAC crossover, Sports Diver & Dive Leader
Click on the link below for the lecture programme.
Theory lessons are held in a classroom at a local venue, arranged by the Training Officer.
They are usually on a Saturday or Sunday morning where 2 or 3 theory lessons would be given with a short break between each.
Each lesson lasts for about 1 hour.
To gain the most benefit from the lectures you should read the appropriate section from your student workbook before attending the lecture.
That way you can use the lecture to gain an understanding of those areas that were not clear from reading the notes.
If there is still something you don't understand, ask the lecturer.
When attending any of the lectures you should take along the following items:-
- A pen and paper for making notes
- Your blue logbook, so that the lecture can be signed up
- Your student workbook
- Any special items requested by the lecturer
Click here for details of training in Spring/Summer 2008.
Expeditions
Brixham June 2008
The dates for the club trip to Brixham in Devon next year have been booked : Saturday 7 - Saturday 14 June 2008
This is a seven day trip and everyone is expected to travel down and back on the same days in order to help with boat launching and recovery!
Book the time off now!
As usual deposit of £50 payable to Sussex Diving Club will secure a place.
Costs will be around £140 per person, based on 4 sharing accommodation - please note that the accommodation is made up of a double and twin room - so I'll be
trying to encourage all those diving couples to join in next year's trip!
More information to follow nearer the time but names and deposits to me as soon as possible please… spaces are limited.

Norway August 2008
There is a Norway trip being planned from 16th to 26th August this year, although you might need to allow a day on either side for travel.
The trip is from Kirkenes to Tromso on the Jane R run by skipper Gordon Wadsworth - Gordon's website is www.divenorway.com
You can see details of the Tirpitz and the Murmansk which are just a couple of the wrecks that would be visited, on the website.
There are 12 spaces in total some of which are already taken.
This trip will cost £900 for the hire of tanks, weights, diving and three square meals a day plus snacks. Additional costs are Oxygen (if using Nitrox),
together with the air fare. While we haven't got flights finalised yet having had a brief look at flights at the time you can expect these to cost in the region of £250-300.
This trip is suitable for experienced sports divers and above, do bear in mind that most diving will take place above the arctic circle so be prepared for cold
waters, also because of the type of diving you will need to agree your own buddy for the week in advance.
Let me know if you are interested; for those who have already put their names down, can I please have deposits of £200 per person

sleep on the boat to around £30 per night at a B&B). Actual dives dependant on the team and the weather. Sign up ASAP but deposit of £40 payable
